MaElo2
MaElo2 encodes C16/18 elongase from Mortierella alpina which functions in the desaturase and elongase pathway and could convert C16:0 to C18:0.
Description
The wild-type Y. lipolytica Po1f can produce C18:0 under the catalysis of C16/18 elongase. MaElo2 encodes C16/18 elongase of 266 amino acid from Mortierella alpina. Heterologous expression of MaElo2 could catalyze C16:0 to C18:0 in Y. lipolytica.
The enzyme has catalytic activity for C18:1, and according to the experimental results, it produces almost double the percentage of C18:2.
