Design Notes

It is widely use in eukaryotic cells. In addition, as it is an antimicrobial peptide is desired to express it under medium strength promoter, in order to maintain the concentration of a toxic target protein just below a host strain's tolerance. The PelB sequence allows the peptide to be sent to a periplasmic space for easier purification and a histidine tag for IMAC purification.

Source

This sequence was obtained from the GenBank (MW048779.1) as a synthetic construct for the production of a recombinant Dermaseptin peptide in Nicotiana tabacum hairy roots with enhanced antimicrobial activity.
