Amyloid beta peptide 7 (CLPFFD)

This part encodes an Amyloid 𝛽 peptide which has the ability to bind to A𝛽 plaques inside the brain.

Usage and Biology

This peptide was designed for a specific 4 aa sequence in the hydrophobic core of Aß N-terminal (LVFF), its ability of inhibition lies in the presence of a proline residue which prevents its assembly into beta sheet form. Several modifications have been applied to this peptide to enhance its function, it was proved to have an inhibitory effect both in vitro and in vivo by eliminating neurotoxicity of fibrils and blocking their formation inside the brain.
