PtUGT

a glucosyltransferase that can introduce a reversible protecting glucose group into indoxyl, turning low water solubility product indigo (or tyrian purple) to soluble indican.

Usage and Biology

gene of PtUGT and FMO was assembled with pET28a backbone to construct pET28a-PtUGT-FMO. PtUGT and FMO were co-expression to convert indole (or 6-Br-indole) to indican which gives a sustainable indigo dyeing strategy.
