CsgA-SmtA
CsgA is the major curli subunit protein of E.coli. Therefor, the surface display of SmtA, a protein belongs to Metallothionein family, achieved by linking to csgA.

IGEM_XJTLU 2023 verified the function of CsgA-SmtA by measuring the concentration of Cu(II) and Cd(II) adsorbed by SmtA protein on the surface of E.coli.

Figure1. E.coli expressed SmtA protein showed higher adsorption of Cu(II) in 1.8mM CuSO4 solution.

Figure1. E.coli expressed SmtA protein showed higher adsorption of Cd(II) in 300μM CdCl2 solution.
