Scl2 with Fibronectin Binding Domain
Fibronectin is a glycoprotein found in the extracellular matrix. It binds to receptor proteins such as integrins, collagen, fibrin, and other proteins. Fibronectin plays a large role in cell adhesion, growth, and differentiation, and is crucial to wound healing [1]. By integrating fibronectin into Scl2, scaffolds made of Scl2 can accommodate cells with fibronectin binding sites.
Our team used PCR to amplify our composite Scl2 with fibronectin binding domain gBlock with our custom primers. After amplification, a gel electrophoresis was run on the PCR product using 1Kb Plus DNA Ladder. A significant band was obtained for the PCR, around 1,400bp (Img 1). Because we predicted this composite part to be 1,394 bp, it was determined that amplification of our Scl2 with fibronectin binding domain successfully occurred.
