Usage and Biology

trpE The trpE gene encodes a synthase enzyme called anthranilate synthase (AS, the catalytic reaction is shown in Figure 1), which is involved in a key step in tryptophan synthesis and is therefore used to enhance the ability of E. coli to synthesize tryptophan.
This gene is present in part BBa_K3875006 and BBa_K3875011.
It is also known as anth, ECK1258, tryD, tryp-4. The sequence of trpE can be found in E. coli BW25113.
