Part:BBa_K3657002
RNA binding Pumilio Homology Domain (Uracil)
The Pumby Domains are 36 amino acid long subunits, that specifically bind one of the RNA bases. The specificallity is due to a variation in the amino acid in position 16 and 20. Multiple Pumby Domains can be assembled into one Pumby protein, being able to bind a sequence of up to 18 RNA nucleotides.
This part is the Uracil binding Pumby Domain.
Combined with the other Pumby Domains:
Adenine:BBa_K3657001
Guanine:BBa_K3657002
Cytosine:BBa_K3657003
it can be assembled to a Pumby Protein, binding a specific RNA sequence (see the compotitive parts: BBa_K3657004, BBa_K3657005)
Usage and Biology
Pumby Domains are engeneered from the Pumilio Homology Domain (Drosophila Melanogaster), which is a RNA binding protein, that is made out of 6 repeating subunits containing three alpha helices and two imperfect subunits at the N- and C-Terminus.
