J23106-RBS-luxI-B0015-J23106-RBS-luxR is a composite part constructed to correlate the quorum-sensing module and the calcium absorption module of our project.
Usage and Biology
The promoter luxpR is activated by a complex comprised of a small molecule called AHL(acyl-homoserine lactone) and a constitutively expressed protein luxR which can bind AHL. LuxI encodes a synthase that converts SAM into AHL. When the population of our bacteria is low,the amount of the complex is not enough, thus the luxpR promoter cannot initiate expression of downstream genes. When the population of bacteria reaches a certain level, the AHL-luxR complex triggers the luxpR promoter, so that our engineered probiotics will express and secrete CaAP and play a role in facilitating calcium absorption. See more information about luxpR-CaAP on BBa_K3606044.
