EGFP

EGFP is a constitutively fluorescent (enhanced) green fluorescent protein derived from Aequorea Victoria first published by Cormack et al. in 1996 with an excitation wavelength of 488 nm and an emission peak at 507 nm. Due to the introduction of a set of point mutations including a mutation effecting folding efficiency under cell culture conditions, it shows a much higher extinction coefficient and brightness than the natural variant of the protein (Cormack et al. 1996, McRae et al. 2005).
