Geraniol synthase from Catharanthus roseus

Usage

Catharanthus roseus produces monoterpene indole alkaloids (MIAs). Geraniol synthase catalyzes a key step in the generation of geraniol from geranyl diphosphate (GPP) in the monoterpenoid branch of the MIA pathway.

The sequence of the geraniol synthase from Catharanthus roseus (CrGES) has been taken from Genbank (JN882024.1) then truncated to the 43 amino acid in order to increase its activity (Jiang et al., 2017).

Experiments

Team iGEM Toulouse 2020 did not have sufficient time to complete the cloning and hence, to test this part functionality.

Related parts on regisrty

There is another part in registry BBa_K2753003, which corresponds to geraniol synthase. The two main differences are that: the sequence originates from Ocimum basilica and the codons are adapted for the usage in E.coli.
