RSN-3, 4, and 5 are like each other and show significant sequence similarities to fucose binding proteins from other aquatic vertebrates (eels and the toad Xenopus). One possible function of several ranaspumins may be to assist in long-term foam stabilization by formation of a cross-linked carbohydrate network at the air–water interface (CD;Smith, 2016).
