Part:BBa_K3238002
Pdh Repressor protein
this part detects the pyruvate concentration though the pdh Repressor Protein. When there are no pyruvate molecules the pdhR binding the pdh promoter and repress the expression of the pdh operon and other genes with the same target sequence. when the pyruvate concentration is high this molecule binds the pdhR producing the pdhR-pyr complex, which do not have the capability to bind the pdh promoter then the pyruvate dehydrogenase complex operon is activated allowing the expression of PDHC and the pyruvate degradation
Biology
PdhR, "pyruvate dehydrogenase complex regulator," regulates genes involved in the pyruvate dehydrogenase complex. The activity of PdhR is controlled by pyruvate. In the absence of this compound, the PdhR regulator binds to its target promoters. This repression is antagonized by its coeffector, pyruvate. In addition to the role described above, PdhR also controls the synthesis of two key enzymes (Ndh and CyoA) in the terminal electron transport system.
