STAR target RFP

This is an RFP coding device with a STAR Target inserted upstream. In this way, the RFP is only transcribed in the presence of a STAR molecule.

Usage and Biology

We transformed bacteria with this construct to observe the function of the device in vivo. In the absence of a STAR, most colonies appear white, as shown in Figure 1.

However, when a construct carrying a STAR is added, then more red colonies appear, as shown in Figure 2.
