nixA
This gene express the Nickel-cobalt transportase protein.
Usage and Biology
The NiCoT family is widely distributed in bacteria and is also found in certain archaea and fungi (Schizosaccharomyces cerevisiae and Neurospora crassa). The family contains eight Transmembrane domains (TMD). When the content of nickel and cobalt in the environment is very low, nickel-cobalt ions can be efficiently absorbed into the cells. It can be expressed on the cell membrane to absorb nickel ions([http://cdmd.cnki.com.cn/Article/CDMD-10225-1013371308.htm Ren.2013]). We characterized its ability to adsorb nickel ions on the surface of Saccharomyces cerevisiae cells..To view its function please see Part:BBa_K3126019
