Design Notes

uvrA is upstream of a reporter gene to sense DNA damage. UvrA is one of the genes involved in the SOS response network, and is therefore regulated by LexA and RecA. We chose to use the uvrA gene as our sensor because it is specifically involved in the repair of UV induced DNA lesions, making its expression specific to the amount of that type of damage
