CwA (194aa) - Truncated cell wall anchoring protein from Lactobacillus plantarum truncated sequence

This part is an N-terminal truncated region of the Lp_2578, a cell wall adherence protein, from Lactobacillus plantarum WCFS1. This protein allows for the covalent anchoring to the lactobacillal cell wall. The whole protein contains 644 amino acids while this portion contains only 195 amino acids but crucially still contains the low complexity LPxTG region which is the anchoring domain for this protein on the C-terminal side. This truncated protein has been shown to produce the desired effect in anchoring open reading frame proteins to the cell wall of lactobacillus spp, which has been used in the display of antigen proteins to the surface of cells.

Our application for this protein was to apply it to an orally administered vaccine for fish. This approach can be used for several vertebrates.
