guaD

guaD encodes an enzyme called Guanine Deaminase. It converts guanine to xanthine and ammonia. It can be used as the second step in the degradation of melamine to ammonia, as shown by Shaw et al. 20161. In this pathway, it converts ammeline to ammelide.
