It encodes glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase, NAD dependent malate dehydrogenase, pyruvate formate-lyase and formate dehydrogenase cytochrome b.

Usage and biology

gapA could transform 3- phosphoglyceraldehyde into 1,3- diphosphoglycerate, mdh could transform malate into pyruvate, pflB helps to transform pyruvate into Acetyl-CoA and fdh helps to transform formate into CO2. With the overexpression of gapA-mdh, Shewanella could produce NADH more efficiently, which brings more electricity to be produced.
