Initiation Factor I (IF1) in pSB1C3

Initiator Factor 1 (IF1) is a protein that helps start protein synthesis (formation of peptide chains). IF1 works with IF2 and IF3 by stabilizing these two proteins allowing binding to the ribosome. This then allows the methionyl-tRNA to bind to the ribosome [1]. This part has been codon optimized for use in Escherichia coli , has a N-terminal his tag for purification and has a T7 promoter, medium strength RBS and a double terminator. These initial designs were done by the Lethbridge iGEM team 2017 (http://2017.igem.org/Team:Lethbridge).

This part was improved by placing it into the pSb1C3 plasmid.
