GltP: glutamate and glyphosate uptake transporter in Bacillus subtilis
This part is a DNA sequence coding for the gltP gene. GltP is a transporter that is involved in glutamate uptake from the environment into the cell. It naturally occurs in Bacillus subtilis. The abscence of GltT causes the bacteria to develop a resistance against glyphosate, as less of this herbicide and antibiotic are transported into the cell. This means that this part has the potential to be involved in the development of glyphosate resistant detection and inactivation systems.
