EndA Endonuclease Coding Device from Vibrio cholera
This is coding device of EndA DNA-specific endonuclease, with constitutive promoter BBa_J61051. The gene is isolated from Vibrio cholera.
Usage and Biology
EndA endonuclease is expressed entirely extracellularly. Its natural function in nature is to prevent transformation when expressed, so that Vibrio cholera can manage the period and seasons for transformation.
Utilizing that characteristics, this enzyme can be used to coat bacterial cells in endonuclease cloud. This can prevent natural transformation from happening. This function is particularly useful as a containment/safety device to prevent transformation of natural organisms by genetically modified ones which can disrupt the natural gene pool.
