Pex11-Venus with galactose inducible promoter
This part contains the coding sequence for the peroxin Pex11p with the galactose inducible promoter ScGAL1 and the terminator ScADH1. It is codon-optimized for S. cerevisiae and contains the fluorescent protein Venus fused to the 3'-end of the coding sequence. This is used in order to visualize the peroxin in the cell.
Usage and Biology
Pex11 is a peroxin located in the inner surface of the peroxisomal membrane and is required for peroxisome biogenesis [ 1 ]. Erdmann and Blobel have shown that the deletion of the PEX11 gene in S. cerevisiae results in cells with fewer, larger peroxisomes, whereas overexpression results in cells with a higher quantity of smaller peroxisomes [2].
