HAO (hydroxylamine oxidoreductase)

This coding sequence in Nitrosomonas europaea, a nitrifying bacterium, codes for hydroxylamine oxidoreductase, which catalyzes the oxidation of hydroxylamine to nitrite. The P. denitrificans TAT signal peptide coding sequences are embedded in the HAO coding sequence to direct export the hydroxylamine oxidoreductase to the periplasm of the cell.
