ColE promoter

Co1E promoter is derived from the promoter region of colicin E gene located in the ColE1 plasmid of E.coli. ColE promoter contains a ‘SOS’ operator region that allows the binding of LexA protein to repress transcription.

Usage and Biology

ColE promoter is 151bp in length. We used a light-repressed system containing a single light repressor LexA-VVD, and a ColE promoter that contains a SOS operator sequence for LexA binding to regulate the expression of target genes. The picture shows a colony PCR product of ColE promoter in pLEV1(408) vector.
