Recombinase Vika, E. coli and yeast coding optimized
This is a Cre-like recombinase of Tyr-family with properties similar to those of Cre, but with a different recognized sequence VloxP, which do not cross-interfering with Cre-LoxP system.
Vika has the invertase activity that invert the the sequence between two anti-parallel Voxs. The original Vika is discovered through genome screening of Vibrio coralliilyticus ATCC BAA-450, which might be a integrase gene taken in by some phage. Yet this coding sequence is redesigned into E. coli-and-yeast coding preference according to original protein sequence.
Improvement by SYSU-CHINA 2016
This part has been improved to be the VIKA UNIT including an sv40 nuclear location sequence (NLS), a recombinase gene named VIKA and an sv40 terminator flanked by homodromous recognition site of recombinase VIKA named Vox. The whole part can be cut off by VIKA. For more information of the improved part, please go to the page of Part:BBa_K1926013.
