Applications of BBa_K1783002

This composite BioBrick served as a visual reporter gene. The short half life enables this part to be used as a method to quantify protein production in a more precise manner than a regular RFP that aggregates in the cell. A microplate reader was used to report objective data about the production of this protein. As a result of the constitutive promoter and short temporal lifespan, this part was used as an effective assay of plasmid maintenance. Alongside, plating tests were used to verify the presence of the plasmid of interest in the E.coli samples, in which we could qualitatively check to see if the plasmid was present in the cells. This additional assay provides more evidence to verify the effectiveness of this protein over many generations as a reporter of protein production.
