S. aureus type II PanK (CoaA)
This basic part is type II pantothenate kinase (panK) from Staphylococcus aureus, which means that it is not sensitive to feedback inhibition from coenzyme A or acetyl-CoA. This means that high levels of coenzyme A accumulate. We did not experiment with this gene alone; instead, we incorporated it into an already-existing biobrick (BBa_K1149051) to increase the production of poly-3-hydroxybuterate, a plastic of which coenzyme A is a precursor.
