Background of nicX

Part Description

Codon optimized coding sequence of nicX, an enzyme from the Pseudmonas putida bacterium KT2240, for E.Coli. This composite part was used to make our part BBa_K1813030 and BBa_K1813031 .

Part Origin

Originally cloned and characterized by Jimenez et al. from Pseudmonas putida KT2240 [1].

Part Function

The enzyme coded for by nicX is a 2,5 DHP dioxygenase that converts 2,5 Dihydroxypyridine (2,5 DHP) to N-Formylmaleamic Acid (NFM).
