Plac + ChlI1 + ChlD

Composite part incorporating the genes adding a Mg ion to protoporphyrin IX, as a part of the chlorophyll biosynthetic pathway. Magnesium chelatase subunit I (ChlI1) and Magnesium chelatase subunit D (ChlD) form an ATP-dependent complex (increased yield is seen if ChlI2 subunit is also present). This complex acts on protoporphyrin IX, bound to the ChlH protein, and inserts a magnesium ion which produces Mg-protoporphyrin IX.

Usage and Biology

Has since been added to: BBa_K1326008
This composite part was used to add further parts on to to form a functional operon. The two genes present have been found to be functional, converting Protoporphyrin IX into Mg-protoporphyrin IX. These results can bee seen below in Functional Parameters.
