Dye-decolourising peroxidase from Bacillus subtilis

BsDyP (BSU38260; accession number, NC_000964.3) gene (1251bp) from Bacillus subtilis, found to have been effective in degrading lignin and azo dyes, in an oxidative process. The range of substrates for this enzyme seems to be rather wide, including azo-dyes, phenolic compounds and other aromatics, as well as manganese and ferrous ions. The range of substrates and the mode of action of this enzyme suggests that it could be classified as a bacterial lignin peroxidase.
