After further investigation, the addition of the hydrogen peroxide to the samples including the SoxS promoter and the negative control appears to have killed all the cells. The concentration of hydrogen peroxide, therefore was too high in order to simply increase oxidative stress, and ultimately produced ineffective results. The data is inclusive whether the soxR protein successfully repressed the SoxS promoter, or the cell was simply incapacitated by the addition of the hydrogen peroxide. The graphs of the data are above. The first graph includes the positive control, but the second graph excludes this sample in order to make the ratios of the experimental and negative control samples more visible.
