ble resistance (eucaryotic)

Zeocin (Phleomycin D1) intercalates into the DNA. It recruits copper ions as co factor and lead to a double strand break. The gene product She ble binds to Zeocin and blocks its function. It gives prokaryotes and eukaryotes a resistance against Zeocin.

Usage and Biology

This Zeocin resistance gene was used in our transfected expression vector to select transfected P. tricornutum colonies.
