Zeaxanthin 7,8-cleavage dioxygenase (ZCD-His) with His tag

Cleaves zeaxanthin to begin the formation of saffron metabolites such as picrocrocin, crocin and safranal. This part is from a synthetic construct based on the gene from "Crocus Sativus". The protein expressed from this gene has been shown to form insoluable inclusion bodies in the cytoplasm of bacteria. These inclusion bodies form aggregates that inhibit cell growth. Therefore, it is recommended to increase th soluability of the enzyme, for example by fusing it with a histidine patch thioredoxin.

The his-tag (6xHis) was added to facilitate characterization of the construct.
