AraCpBAD + BSMT1

The part BBa_K1065100 is under the control of the inducible promoter AraC-pBAD. This promoter allows to produce methyl salicylate starting from salicylic acid when 5 mM of Arabinose is added to the culture.

This part was cloned by the iGEM UniTN Trento 2013 team for the construction of Wintergreen Devices BBa_K1065102 and BBa_K1065106.

Usage and Biology

BSMT1 catalyzes the conversion of salicylic acid to methyl salicylate, which has a wintergreen smell.

The arabinose inducible promoter BBa_K731201 was fully characterized by iGEM UniTN Trento 2012.

The arabinose inducible promoter BBa_K731201 was fully characterized by iGEM UniTN Trento 2012.
