alcohol acetyltransferase I; converts isoamyl alcohol to isoamyl acetate (banana odor)

This part is the ATF sequence BBa_45J006 with a single point mutation at base pair 1148 (T -> C). Alcohol acetyltransferase I (ATFI) encodes the enzyme alcohol acetyltransferase I (AATase I), which produces acetate esters from acetyl CoA and alcohols. It was obtained from S. cerevisiae.

Usage and Biology

We (MIT iGEM 2006) are currently experimenting with this part to determine its functional charateristics. It is currently in the pSB1A3-1 BioBrick backbone.
