Applications of BBa_K233307

This is essentially an export tag and must be fused upstream of the gene of the protein that is to be secreted out of the cell into the medium.

The fusion must be in-frame so as to get a functional protein-of-interest. Once this is ensured the tag helps in directing the fusion protein( i.e. of the tag and the protein-of-interest)to the membrane bound Tat. The Tat (twin-arginine translocation) system delivers folded proteins across biological membranes 1 TorA is the signal sequence that is used in this pathway.

Cambridge 2011 improved part

Part BBa_K233307, submitted by the [http://2011.igem.org/Team:Cambridge 2011 Cambridge team], is an improved version of this export tag. We created a shorter version that can be synthesised more cheaply and that has been extensively characterised in the literature (information found on the experience page of k233307). The greater information availible for this version of the part includes detailed growth condition and chassis specifications to allow for improved export.
