The kozak sequence is a conserved sequence located in the 5' untranslated region (5' UTR) of eukaryotic mRNA, and its main function is to enhance the initiation of translation. It helps ribosomes recognize and bind to mRNA, thereby increasing the efficiency of protein synthesis. The standard Kozak sequence usually contains an adenine-rich region (AUG), which is the core signal for translation initiation.
