The gene CYP2C9 encodes the enzyme CYP2C9, which not only take part in the reaction where the Δ9-THC hydroxylates into 11-OH-Δ9-THC, but also catalyzes the oxygenization reaction from 11-OH-Δ9-THC to THC-COOH.
