BMAP-18: Antimicrobial peptide.
BMAP-18 is effective against P. aeruginosa, S. maltophilia and trypanosomatid parasites. It is 18 amino acids long. It is the truncated version of the antimicrobial peptide BMAP-27, which is 27 amino acids long. BMAP-18 was used instead of BMAP-27 because it has increased target specificity and increased efficiency.
