styD

This part contains the gene styD which encodes for the protein phenylacetaldehyde dehydrogenase. This gene was obtained from Pseudomonas putida S12, and combines in conjunction with the overall cluster styABCDE. This is the final step in the degradation of styrene to phenylacetic acid. This catalyzes the oxidation of phenylacetaldehyde to phenylacetic acid.1
