Aldehyde Decarbonylase to Acyl-ACP Reductase (ADC-AAR) Fusion

This part encodes a direct gene fusion product of the two enzymes, Aldehyde Decarbonylase (ADC) and Acyl-ACP Reductase(AAR), in a linear configuration with a glycine-serine linker for co-localization. Usage and Biology

We expected this will optimize alkane production developed by the 2011 University of Washington iGEM Team, by bringing ADC and AAR close together. Contrary to what was expected, our gas chromatography-mass spectroscopy (GC-MS) data demonstrated that direct fusion has a negative effect on alkane production.
