Design Notes
In order to ensure that the novel antimicrobial peptide of human origin can be successfully expressed in E. coli EcN, we performed codon optimization. Meanwhile, we selected different promoters for gene expression to ensure the feasibility of plasmid design.
Source
The novel antimicrobial peptide is discovered from the Lactobacilli spp. in the human vaginal flora. Since the sequence screening of this protein was done by our host lab of Nanjing Tech University upfront and the related papers and data have not been published yet. For reference, the sequence has been identified and is available in the NCBI database under the Reference Sequence: WP_049159833.1.
