gm.cytoGGPPS

Geranylgeranyl diphosphate synthase is an essential enzyme in the MVA pathway in plants, through which paclitaxel is eventually synthesized1. Geranylgeranyl diphosphate synthase converts FPP into GGPP, an important precursor in the MVA pathway. We are using this gene as part of our construct to ensure that paclitaxel is synthesized in the cytosol rather than through the MEP pathway in the chloroplast, which would complicate our project by requiring the addition of export tags.
