Metallothionein

Small ubiquitin-related modifier (SUMO) is a member of the ubiquitin-related protein family. SUMO modulates protein function through covalent conjugation to lysine residues in a large number of proteins. In our project, it can increase the soluble expression of MT protein. MT is a special small-molecule metal-binding protein in organisms, which is widely distributed, rich in cysteine, has a conserved structure, and has a high affinity for metals. After connected to the SUMO, it can be used as a supplement for surface display to enhance the tolerance of engineered bacteria to various heavy metal ions.
