Description

XY (Compare to existing biobrick) is a ribozyme.

Upon translation of this sequence into RNA, it cleaves itself off, removing any transcript from the mRNA upstream of the ribosomal binding site (RBS). This leads to a more stable expression independent of the cellular context (http://2016.igem.org/Team:William_and_Mary/RiboJ) and can be used for better cross comparison of results over species border or the construction of more robust, species independent functional devices.
