guaD

guaD encodes an enzyme called guanine deaminase which converts guanine to xanthine and ammonia. It can be used as the second step in the degradation of melamine to ammonia, as shown by Shaw et al. 20161. In this pathway, it is able to convert ammeline to ammelide.
