pGapA-AmilCP

Promoter GapA is naturally occurring constitutive promoter in Escherichia coli.

Usage and Biology

We, iGEM Leiden 2018, have combined this naturally occurring constitutive promoter from Escherichia coli with the blue chromoprotein AmilCP (BBa_K592009) in order for us to compare it to our novel stress promoter+chromoprotein constructs. GapA is known for its high constitutive expression, as is demonstrated in Figure 1.

Moreover, GapA being a natural occurring promoter there are still possibilities for optimization through radiation. This way variations of this promoter can provide access to an even wider spectrum of colors.
