miR-16 target sequence

It is the target sequence of miR-16, a modularized DNA part from a set of chemically synthetic oligo DNA library.

Usage and Biology

MiRNA locker assembled by using this modularized DNA part was able to bind miR-16 in an Ago2 dependent manner, that is, knockdown of miR-16 was achieved by transfecting cells with miRNA locker.

MiR-16 was firstly detected in mouse kidney, adult zebrafish, and very weakly in frog ovary1. Located at chromosome 13q12, it is encoded by the mir-15a/mir16-1 and the mir-15b/mir16-2polycistrons.And its relative cloning frequency varied greatly and was higher in tumor samples and cell lines compared to normal tissues3.

Reductions in expression of miR-15a and miR-16, let-7a, or miR-143 and miR-145 have been reported in chronic lymphocytic leukemia , lung cancer , and colorectal neoplasia , respectively4.
