Pblc in front of mRFP+terminator
Part description
Pblc is the promoter of the blcABC operon from Agrobacterium tumefaciens. It contains operator sites that are recognized by the repressor BlcR. blc-promoter was described by [http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4083662/ Pan et al. 2013].
This part was used to test the blc-promoter. You can find detailed information about the function of this promoter at BBa_K1758377
Biology
This part was used to build a GBL/GHB responsive element. In presence of these substances, known as ingredients of date rape drugs, the repressor changes conformation and is therefore unable to bind the operator site within this part. A following reporter gene (here mRFP) would then be transcribed. The part was used to build a biosensor detecting date rape drugs.
